Home Studio Recording
Ever wondered how to get your original songs and music recorded and uploaded onto the web, without spending a fortune on software, hardware, studio time or experts? The new ICMP 'Home Studio Recording' course is aimed at 'bedroom' producers, singer/songwriters and composers who are looking to learn the basics of recording their material. Expert ICMP tutors are ready to demystify the technical side of recording and producing, using the ICMP's state of the art facilities and equipment to demonstrate how easy and cheap it can be to produce high quality recordings.
The course is built around creating a new song or musical piece from scratch and getting it ready to burn on a CD or upload to the web by the end of the course.
COURSE OUTLINE
The course covers principally the following key aspects of the recording process, in simple to understand classes of 2 hours each week over 10 weeks:
> Buying advice - what software, hardware and associated gear will you need?
> How to build and arrange a song
> How to program, using MIDI and samples in Logic Studio
> How to record vocals and guitar/bass in a non-studio environment (home recording)
> The art and practice of mixing
> What formats are needed and how to upload to MySpace and other internet channels
Each class will focus on one key building block of the song or musical material, for example, creating a basic drum and key pattern, then recording vocals and other instruments on top of these patterns. Additionally, the classes will contain 'show and tell' tutorials on how to do each section in Logic followed by class practice.
