ICMP Foundation Degree

The ICMP's Foundation Degree in Creative Musicianship is focused on developing each individual musician's unique 'creative voice', their performance skills to industry standard, and equipping them with the entrepreneurial and business skills required to capitalise on their creative abilities. It is for students of guitar, bass, drums and vocals.
For the creative musician to survive and prosper in today's fast changing music industry they need a range of personal and professional skills. They must be responsive to change and able to benefit from new opportunities. This exciting and innovative programme combines the development of both performance and musicianship skills to industry standard with the critical business and entrepreneurial skills and knowledge that will enable the successful graduate to create a rewarding career in the music industry.
This new course is available for study on both a full-time and part-time basis.
Requirements:

Applicants will typically have GCE /VCE A levels equivalent to 120 UCAS points, ICMP BTEC level 3 Diploma MP profile, ICMP Higher Diploma BTEC level 5 pass profile or equivalent qualifications in suitable subject areas.

Applicants will usually be expected to possess 3 GCSEs with grades A-C, including Maths and English Language, and applicants who do not have English as a first language will need to meet IELTS 5.5 with no component below 5.0.

ICMP also welcomes applications from established practitioners who are keen to undertake study at the HE level but may not possess the required qualifications. These students may be given credit for their prior study or experience.

All applicants will be expected to attend an audition and interview which will assess their abilities in performance, aural, instrumental technique, chart reading and harmony and theory, as well as their enthusiasm for performance, studying and developing a career. Applicants must demonstrate an appropriate level of instrumental or vocal performance skill to be eligible for entry onto the programme. The following guidelines indicate the general standard expected at audition:
- Performance and theory skills equivalent to grade 6 or above (for example, ABRSM)
- An ability to read musical charts and notation
